About This Role

This position will be responsible for designing and performing laboratory experiments, collecting and analyzing research data, helping the Program Director (PD) prepare manuscripts and project reports, assisting the PD to train graduate and undergraduate students in research whenever such opportunities occur, and maintaining insect colonies used by the Fellow Post Doc. This Postdoctoral Fellow position supports a USDA/NIFA-funded research project focused on developing RNA interference (RNAi)-based strategies for insect pest management.

Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Prepare manuscripts for publication, and make research presentations at professional conferences.
  • Conducts independent research under the guidance of principal investigators.
  • Designing and performing laboratory experiments.
  • Collecting and analyzing research data.
  • Coordinates with other laboratory staff regarding equipment and material needs to support project completion.
  • Assist Project Director (PD) in preparing project reports and training graduate and undergraduate students in research whenever such opportunities occur.
  • Prepares research records, reports, and related documents in standard scientific formats for data storage.
  • Assists principal investigators in developing high-quality tables, graphs, and other outputs for peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • PhD as highest degree. The degree requirement is necessary to ensure candidates possess the specialized knowledge, skills and abilities that can only be attained through a formal educational program at this level.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Ph.D. in Entomology or a related discipline, earned within the past five years
  • Strong technical skills in molecular biology, with a preference for experience in insect RNAi, bioinformatics, and gene function analysis
  • Excellent organizational, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship
