The Opportunity:

As the ideal candidate for this role, you will be a scientist responsible for supporting, directing, and executing scientific studies, as well as developing and implementing manufacturing process strategies to support both new and existing products. You will investigate the feasibility of applying a wide range of statistical and scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products, and challenges.

You will maintain a comprehensive knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories, contribute to scientific literature and conferences, and serve as a consultant for both internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, you will act as a spokesperson for development, advise senior management, and participate in patent applications as needed.

In this role, you will also have the opportunity to foster the professional growth of scientists, enhance laboratory processes, and apply your professional expertise to develop product and process principles that achieve objectives in innovative and effective ways.

Who you are:

(Required)

  • Conceives, designs, conducts and leads advanced independent or multi-disciplinary studies driven by strategic business needs in assay, process, product, method or system development.

  • Defines project goals and milestones; responsible for timely project completion.

  • Makes major contributions to strategic directions and projects through knowledge of technology, techniques and its creative applications.

  • Drives activities for publication and/or patent potential.

  • Designs and executes experiments to test hypothesis related project outcomes; extracts the full relevance of scientific observations.

  • Applies advanced scientific knowledge to multi-disciplinary projects.

  • Assures experimental quality through sound experimental design; utilizes DOE; assists in the design of experiments for others.

  • Participates or leads cross functional technical teams such as a failure investigation or core team.

  • Develops and maintains internal and external contacts to maintain technical knowledge.

  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Science required

    • 5 years experience with a PHD degree OR

    • 8 years experience with a MS degree OR

    • 12 years experience with a Bachelors

  • Demonstrates success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought.

  • Expert knowledge and application of scientific principles and concepts.

  • Reputation as emerging leader in field through performance and accomplishments.

  • Applies advanced technical writing skills to produce reports and documents; writes independently; evaluates the writing of others.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Tucson, AZ is $109,100 - $202,700. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
