Position Summary
The Kenan-Flagler Facilities team is seeking an Event Management and Building Operations Assistant to support daily and special event functions across the Kenan-Flagler Business School campus (Kenan Center, McColl Building, and Bell Hall). This position involves a great deal of independent work and applicants must show initiative to implement procedures without direction.
Event management tasks include moving and setting up furniture and AV equipment prior to the start of the event. Day-of event management includes troubleshooting issues with event vendors, parking, housekeeping, maintenance, and light AV support. On occasion, this position will need to work evenings and weekends depending on the event schedule and staffing availability.
Building operation tasks include routine building checks to identify any maintenance issues. Tasks may also include light furniture and building repair work, assisting with office moves, small paint and drywall repair jobs, and minor cleaning. This position will need to both submit and respond to help tickets regarding maintenance issues and event requests via an online system.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Familiarity with basic Microsoft Office products
  • Familiarity with basic building repairs


Special Physical/Mental Requirements
The person in this position must be able to move up to 50 pounds and be able to stand or walk for most of the day with or without accommodation.
