A Community-Focused Critical Access Hospital with Emergency, Inpatient, and Surgical Services Harvard Hospital is a Critical Access Hospital (CAH) proudly serving our rural community with high-quality, compassionate care. We offer:

* A 5-bed Emergency Department (ED) providing 24/7 care
* ASRH (Acute Stroke Ready Hospital) designation, ensuring rapid response for stroke patients
* EDAP (Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics) designation, equipped and staffed to care for pediatric emergencies
* 10 Inpatient Rooms + 3 ICU Rooms
o Licensed for 4 Inpatient Beds + 1 ICU Bed (flexible use of rooms)
* 2 Operating Rooms (ORs) + 1 Procedure Room
* Emergency Physicians On-Site 24/7, Immediate, round-the-clock emergency care
* Hospitalist Coverage 24/7, Remote overnight support with daily on-site rounding
* Leadership Support - Nurse leaders on site Monday-Friday during business hours. RN House Coordinators covering nights, weekends, and any leadership gaps.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Utilizes the nursing process and collaborates with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.

  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and State laws/practice act.

  • Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care.

  • Documents according to standards of care.

  • Develops, initiates, and executes a patient plan of care according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by Physician and-or clinic policy including patient and family instruction.

  • Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.

  • Utilizes clinical expertise and guidance to other units and-or departments in support of the patient's longitudinal plan of care.

  • Utilizes critical thinking regarding patient safety and patient experience and appropriately escalates to the appropriate chain of command.

  • Participates in the professional nursing continuum process, unit practice activities and decisions and peer review process.

  • Offers ideas and-or solutions to practice issues.

  • Uses innovative methods and intuitive skills to develop and implement plans of care.

  • Provides innovative ways to educate patient-families

  • Initiates interdisciplinary collaboration to meet the patient/family educational needs.

  • Actively participates in mentoring and precepting new partners to the organization.

  • Positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance.

  • Engages in personal development and supports system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth including developing or revising evidence-based practice guidelines.

  • Actively participates in a minimum of 1 departmental or unit performance improvement activities, may include shared governance.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred.

Minimum of 2 years experience required.

CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE

Licensed as an RN in state of practice

Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days

Other certification(s) per unit requirements. For example: ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRP

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Passing the WI Caregiver Background Check and/or IL Health Care Workers Background Check. Must be able to follow written/oral instructions. May include color blind test (per department guidelines)

RN Hospital, RN Home Health and Hospice, RN Oncology: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
