POSITION: ABE Instructor LOCATION: ISD742 ABE Sites TYPE OF POSITION: Monday/Wednesday, 5pm - 8:15pm ESL Hourly, Hours may vary based on program needs REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Adult Basic Education Programs SUPERVISION: None SALARY: $40/hour QUALIFICATIONS: Required Bachelor's in English or a related field Preferred Previous experience working with adults POSITION SUMMARY: This position will teach a variety of subject areas to adults studying English as a Second Language; to create a safe and caring climate and culture in which we prepare, engage, educate, empower and inspire all learners in partnership with their surrounding community to be successful in today's and tomorrow's society. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Instructional Planning and Preparation Demonstrate knowledge of content and pedagogy Demonstrate knowledge of students Select instructional goals Demonstrate knowledge of resources Design coherent instruction adhering to ABE standards in CCRS, ACES, and digital literacy Assess student learning Classroom Environment Create an environment of respect and rapport Establish a culture for learning Manage classroom procedures Manage student behavior Organize physical space Instructional Interaction Communicate clearly and accurately Use questioning and discussion techniques Engage students in learning Provide feedback to students Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness Professional Responsibilities Reflect on teaching Maintain accurate records Communicate with families Contribute to the school and district Grow and develop professionally Show professionalism Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL FACTORS: Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, and seeing BENEFITS: We offer a comprehensive benefits package for employees working a minimum of 30 hours per week.
