Essential Job Duties |
The Marketing and Communications Specialist position supports
SBTDC marketing, branding, and communications efforts. The areas of work include social media marketing, content writing, photography, design for print, and digital media.
The ideal candidate must possess superior written and verbal communication skills, as demonstrated by proven experience in professional copywriting and editing. A core requirement is the ability to work collaboratively within a cross-functional environment, particularly with marketing and web development teams, to achieve shared goals. Technical proficiency is mandatory, specifically a high level of expertise in the Adobe Creative Suite (including Express, Photoshop, and Acrobat) and Microsoft Office applications (Word and PowerPoint).
The Marketing and Communications Specialist is responsible for:
- Building the annual SBTDC social media strategy. Manage social media and related projects from start to finish-creating schedules, monitoring progress, and meeting deadlines.
- Segment and target individual audiences with social media (e.g., Partners, Clients, and other Stakeholders).
- Applying knowledge of design, writing, and editing to produce social media content. Follow the statewide brand standards guide. Assist in designing SBTDC marketing materials for statewide and regional events.
- Advise the supervisor on social media strategy for SBTDC statewide social media strategy as requested. Build social media content and schedule via an aggregator (e.g., Hootsuite).
- Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with State Administrative Office staff and field staff at SBTDC offices statewide. Provide communications training and support to staff around social media marketing, social media graphic design, and event-related materials.
- Providing social media and marketing support/research to SBTDC clients as requested.
- Working with the Communications Team on the SBTDC website and intranet content.
- Maintaining familiarity with SBTDC's Strategic Plan, organizational structure, services, outcomes, and impact.
- Analyze social media performance and report it to the supervisor monthly.
- Design and maintain updates to digital media kits for SBTDC and specialty programs; manage information gathering and stakeholder input.
- Maintain digital brand kit on Adobe Creative Cloud. Create flyers and social media templates for staff use.
- Assist in the assembling and design of multiple digital newsletters, both internally and externally.
- Act autonomously as a photographer at official SBTDC events. Edit and disseminate photos effectively using Adobe Lightroom.
- Manage and reply to comments and reposts from followers on our social media channels without higher-level oversight.

Other Responsibilities |
- In addition to the core responsibilities of this role, there will be occasional opportunities to take on additional duties and participate in statewide initiatives. This offers an opportunity to build skills, explore new areas, and gain a deeper understanding of the department's operations.

Qualifications
Minimum Experience/Education |
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
