Primary Purpose
The Student Success Manager for COP will support the University's strategic plan by overseeing academic success coaching team to help undergraduate students achieve their academic, personal, and career goals. Improve academic success rates by collaborating with campus partners to create a culture based in a holistic understanding of how students can succeed in higher education (and beyond) - an understanding founded in the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
The Academic Success Manager will use analysis of retention data and other measures of student success to enhance academic coaching efforts. Provide ongoing one-on-one coaching support for students identified as in need of intensive support.
Essential Functions

  • Track the academic progress of College of the Pacific students and lead outreach efforts to students identified as in need of intensive support.
  • Lead and participate in academic coaching. This will include the following efforts: develop an action plan for success based on the unique needs of each student; monitor and assess student progress in achieving their path to success; help students identify alternative majors; address current and potential academic/personal challenges (e.g. adjustment to college, time-management); collaborate with instructors and faculty advisor as needed.
  • Supervise academic coaching staff. This includes meeting regularly with academic coaching staff to assess students who are "at-risk" of attrition and offer additional support when needed. Lead process improvement and the implementation of best coaching practices.
  • Research, develop, and administer academic coaching training to academic coaching staff.
  • Collaborate with faculty and student support resources (e.g., Care Managers, CAPS, SUCCESS-TRIO, GATC, and CIP) to address academic and personal barriers that impede student success.
  • Collaborate with the associate dean to create an escalation process for the academic coaching staff. Implement and monitor this escalation process and field any inquiries presented by the academic coaching staff.
  • Collaborate with associate dean in creation of calendar for outreach efforts and workshops for students. Develop and implement workshops on topics supporting student success in the classroom.
  • Serve as member of the block scheduling team registering new students for classes pre-matriculation.
  • Gather and present relevant retention data to the associate dean to improve student success efforts.

  • Ensure accurate academic coaching assignments in Banner and Advise.
  • Represent COP Academic Coaches at admissions-related events (e.g., webinars, open houses, information sessions, etc.)
  • Partner with existing programs to develop, enhance, and maintain a peer academic coaching program for COP.
  • Teach STDY 12 Academic Skills for Success, as needed.
  • Maintain accurate academic records and forms in an appropriate confidential manner in accordance with FERPA and other relevant policies using the CRM and other online tools.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
