Continuation past the termlengthdiscussed willbebasedonuniversityneed,performance,and/oravailabilityoffunding.POSITION SPECIFICS The Department of English at The Pennsylvania State University at University Park, Pennsylvania, invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor in Creative Writing (Poetry) to begin August 2026. Responsibilities include teaching two courses per semester to both undergraduate students and those enrolled in the Bachelors/Masters graduate program. It also includes advising theses and mentoring creative writing students. The BA/MA program offers an integrated undergraduate/graduate degree in English with a creative writing concentration in poetry and/or prose. Students complete the program in two years-their senior year and the additional MA year. Candidates for the position must have a terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in English, Creative Writing, or related field by the appointment date. They must also have a strong record of teaching and of poetry publication in prominent venues. The ideal candidate will have at least one book of poems in print or under contract. This position will be filled at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor.
