Software Engineer (Sr.) - Python Springfield, VA Pay From: $155,000 per year MUST: Experienced Senior Software Engineer Active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI 10+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or a related area that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties associated with this work successfully Strong full-stack Python development experience Experience building and maintaining APIs (ex. FastAPI) Experience with Kubernetes and DevOps practices to support rapid deployment and sustainment Proven ability to work with pre-existing code bases, understand them quickly, and adapt functionality for new use cases Experience with web services architecture, design, and development Background working in secure cloud environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud, C2S) Understanding of geospatial systems, including imagery acquisition, geometry, and related workflows Familiarity with geospatial data tools and libraries (e.g., PostGIS, ArcGIS, GDAL) Prior exposure to DoD/IC mission applications BS or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or equivalent technical degree DUTIES: Design, build, deploy, and maintain full-stack web applications, primarily in Python, with supporting JavaScript/TypeScript front-end components Architect, implement, and manage containerized environments using Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring scalability, resilience, and high availability Define, build, and continually improve CI/CD pipelines (for build, test, deployment) to accelerate delivery while maintaining quality and security. Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar tools to provision, configure, and manage cloud infrastructure Integrate automated security scans, vulnerability assessments, static/dynamic code analysis, and compliance checks as part of the development pipeline Monitor infrastructure, applications, and services to ensure high performance, availability, and reliability. Use logging, metrics, alerting tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana, ELK/EFK, CloudWatch) Establish and maintain best practices for system configuration, version control, access control, and environment consistency (dev, test, staging, production) Collaborate cross-functionally with software engineers, security engineers, QA, and operations to ensure secure, efficient, and reliable software delivery Troubleshoot and resolve production issues (application, infrastructure, deployment, network) in a timely and systematic manner Ensure compliance with security policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g. RMF, NIST 800-53, STIGs) as applicable Participate in design and architecture reviews to ensure all systems are built with security, performance, and maintainability in mind Provide technical guidance, mentor junior engineers, and document processes, runbooks, and architecture decisions Engage with non-technical stakeholders (program managers, clients) to communicate status, risks, and tradeoffs Stay abreast of emerging trends, tools, and best practices in DevSecOps, cloud, container orchestration, and cyber/security Quadrant is an affirmative action/equal opportunity employer.
