THE ROLE:

A+E Global Media seeks a temporary Visuals Editor to elevate storytelling across its websites with imagery and visual flair. In this handson, hybrid role, you'll lead photo research, apply light visual treatments, and create simple graphics that support editorial features, primarily for editorial sections of History.com and AETV.com You'll maintain visual consistency while working crossfunctionally - partnering with editors, site designers, shortform video teams, and marketing leads - to help shape how we visually engage with audiences. In time this person may also manage an assistant editor.

MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Research, source, and license photography that brings editorial stories to life
  • Apply light visual treatments that enhance storytelling while upholding ethical standards
  • Create simple graphics and visuals to make stories more shareable and engaging
  • Ensure imagery reflects a wide diversity of people and experiences, avoiding stereotypes or myths
  • Maintain and catalog visual asset libraries with proper metadata and version control
  • Manage licensing, usage rights, and clearance for imagery, assisting with vendor contracts

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Portfolio demonstrating a broad range of visual work: sourcing, editing, and storytelling
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Lightroom, Bridge) and strong understanding of digital file specs, formats, and optimization
  • Experience collaborating with editorial or content teams in creative environments; super important!
  • Working knowledge of image ethics, copyright, usage rights, and clearance
  • Familiarity with digital asset management systems (DAM) and best practices in metadata, cataloging, tagging
  • Strong communication, organization, and project management skills
  • A love of history, culture, or crime content (or enthusiasm for our editorial focus)

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • *Experience owning or influencing visual direction for editorial or media brands
  • Deep visual sensibility in composition, lighting, color, and storytelling aesthetics
  • Ability to manage multiple visual projects and competing deadlines with precision
  • Experience designing or improving visual workflows, taxonomy, or asset systems
  • Comfort working across teams (editorial, design, tech, marketing) to integrate visuals into content and product
  • Awareness of emerging visual technologies (metadata tools, AI-assisted editing, responsive imagery)

CompensationContract Hourly Pay Rate: $49.95
