The Office of Graduate Student Services is seeking a dedicated and experienced Academic Advisor II.

The Academic Advisor II is primarily responsible for processing (having eyes on the graduate application) for the colleges 79+ graduate programs. The advisor will calculate the overall GPA and ensure that each applicant meets the minimum admission requirements established by the faculty. In addition, once admission decisions are made by the faculty, the advisor will be responsible for entering those admission decisions in banner and in slate (the graduate application). Alongside with graduate admission, the advisor II will be responsible for advising the M.A.T. (Master of Art in Teaching) and M.I.S. (Master of Interdisciplinary Studies) students on the graduation list each semester. This involves critical communication with students and with faculty advisors to ensure that students meet the degree requirements needed for graduation. The academic advisor II will assist with hosting graduate information sessions on the graduation application process as well as attend orientations, and recruitment events as needed. Entering of teacher education record using the Georgia Professional Standards Commission (GaPSC) database is required each semester as new students are admitted to the college's teacher education programs.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and related experience.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's degree in education or a related field

  • Experience working under tight deadlines

  • Ability to prioritize workflow as volume increases

  • Communicates clearly and concisely with applicants, students, and faculty

  • Collaboration in a large office environment and within the Graduate Student Services Team

  • A desire for assisting students with academic success in a graduate program

  • Individual who pays close attention to the minute particulars of a task or project, ensuring accuracy, thoroughness, and precision in their work.
