Job Description

YOUR OPPORTUNITY


Manages, analyzes, initiates, and controls all phases of fresh pork warehouse operation, including the material handling, shipping and freezer department, which processes over 400,000 pounds of products each day in a pork processing facility. This position is a hands-on supervisor role, managing up to twenty employees and coordinating department activities and tasks to complete, improve and maximize department efficiencies, workflow optimization and staffing deployment. Ensures product quality and food safety standards are met as well as maintaining a safe work environment for employees. The shipping/logistics supervisor will manage all activities in either the material handling, shipping or freezer departments.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Responsible for achieving throughput targets and key departmental metrics for warehouse operations.
  • Applies lean manufacturing and engineering principles to optimize workflow and efficiency.
  • Identifies and resolves operational constraints, such as delays, load variances, and bottlenecks, providing real-time solutions.
  • Analyzes processes and equipment to ensure consistent and efficient operations.
  • Uses daily performance data to drive improvements and maximize productivity.
  • Ensures daily setup, staffing, and scheduling align with operational goals and efficiency standards.
  • Supervises employees, ensuring proper training, safe work practices, and accurate timekeeping.
  • Maintains compliance with company policies, product quality standards, food safety, and workplace safety procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS




  • College degree in an engineering field or more than four (4) years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing facility preferably logistics or supply chain
  • Excellent computer skills including the use of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, Word)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in the English language including the ability to communicate with team members at all levels within the organization and regulatory agencies
  • Experience with AS400, Kronos, ADP eTime, Carlisle systems preferred but not required

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to move around the facility.
  • The employee must regularly lift and move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Primarily an office environment with some need to work in the field.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts; and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is dependent on which environment you are in
  • The hours and days of work are established by departmental needs and at the discretion of management. After-hours, weekends, and overnight travel as requested.
