Summary:

Performs routine preventive maintenance and ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and the physical condition of buildings are in good condition. This position is responsible for the safe maintenance, repair or replacement of plant equipment and systems, to ensure maximum production quantity and quality, while supporting the policies, goals and objectives of the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Possess knowledge of set-up, operation, and inspection of typical production shop equipment.
  • Performs general maintenance on the building, grounds and production equipment.
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Locates the source of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Removes defective parts by dismantling devices.
  • Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts; using rules, calipers, micrometers, and other measuring instruments.
  • Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
  • Fabricates repair parts by using machine shop instrumentation and equipment.
  • Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations
  • Uses common hand and power tools such as screwdrivers, saws, drills, wrenches, and hammers, as well as specialized equipment and electronic testing devices, replace or fix worn or broken parts, where necessary, or make adjustments to correct malfunctioning equipment and machines.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications
Experience
High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate) preferred and at least one year of experience with basic knowledge of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems. (preferred)
