The ranch is bisected by the 101 freeway and expands from Edwards Point to the Los Padres National Forest. Las Varas is a working cattle ranch and avocado-growing operation. Las Varas' front portion, open to the Pacific Ocean, consists of 520 acres of pasturelands, lemon and avocado orchards, Eucalyptus trees, Live Oak trees, Juniper trees, two active creeks and expansive beaches. The ranch's northern portion consists of 1300 acres of canyons and foothills with views of the coast and Santa Ynez mountain range.
