Job Description

Duties: Supervise a Sow Farm of 5000 head and related personnel including day-to-day tasks of the farm, ensuring production targets are met, and supervising farm employees. Manage the research and control of animal selection, breeding practices to increase production efficiency and improve animal quality. Ensure the care and conditioning of sows on the farm. Direct the breeding and raising of swine using recognized breeding practices. Supervise swine examinations to identify diseases. Ensure standard operating procedures are followed and facilities are in good working condition. Meet daily and weekly production targets. Collect and record production data. Complete and submit production analysis reports in a timely manner. Submit orders for farm supplies and maintenance needs. Monitor breeding and grading to ensure adherence to safety regulations or standards. Create and manage employee work schedules. Revise and approve timecards and approve PTO, holidays, and sick days for employees. Maintain accurate personnel paperwork, including performance evaluations, and provide constructive and timely feedback to employees. No hire/fire authority.



Requirements: Bachelor's Degree in Veterinary Medicine, Animal Science or Husbandry, or related field, plus two years of related swine experience. Experience must include a minimum of one year of experience overseeing daily swine farm operations and directing the work of farm personnel. Must have experience following detailed standard operating procedures. Must have experience managing four or more animal caretakers for sow farms. Must have experience in all processes of swine production from gestation through farrowing and have experience training in pulse needleless vaccination and artificial insemination in swine. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds and sometimes push/and or move up to 300 pounds. Must have good written and oral communication skills in English.



Colorado Wage Range: $75,608 to $79,080
