Job Description

OVERVIEW

The Joplin Pet site supports two business units (Dry & Treats) within the Pet segment. The Dry Department has 3 processing systems and 4 packaging lines, which produces roughly 360MM lbs annually. The Treats Department has 3 different processing systems (Injection Molding, Extrusion, and Dehydration) and 4 packaging lines which produces roughly 10MM lbs annually. Across the site we have 300+ Herd members operating in a highly engaged, Team-based work system.

The Manufacturing Supervisor will provide manufacturing leadership to deliver world-class operation. Operations Team Leaders are responsible for the day-to-day overall coordination of production activities and performance in their assigned area which includes leading, motivating, and developing employees to safely deliver outstanding manufacturing results. Operations Team Leaders manage a shift of 10-15 employees, including participating in the hiring process, employee on-boarding, performance management, and corrective action. They will partner with the Platform Teams and execute the plans for their shift. They have responsibility for creating and maintaining a workplace culture that engages and motivates associates at all levels. This role will report to the Dry Packaging Platform Lead.

The Manufacturing Supervisor is responsible for providing direction and support to a production teamon B-shift which operates from 7pm - 7am on a 2-2-3 work schedule.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Educate, develop and motivate a manufacturing work group to achieve required production results, improving individual technical skills and enabling collaboration across boundaries
  • Ensure that production facilities and finished products meet the company and government standards for quality, sanitation, and safety
  • Establish and sustain sound relationships with all employees in order to foster an environment where innovative methods are used to involve others in creative solutions to issues
  • Provide business leadership which demonstrates commitment to department and plant objectives on a day-to-day basis
  • Facilitate, coach, counsel, and guide the manufacturing work group to ensure that they have the ability to deliver results year over year through the use of continuous improvement tools and strategies
  • Function as a technical resource in areas of system operations and product requirements
  • Facilitate the effective interchange of information between work groups, cross-functional resources, and other members of the plant and corporate teams
  • Manage staffing and daily overtime assignments for your shift; coordinate staffing needs with other Operations Team Leaders to prioritize health of the site
  • Provide line team support as needed
  • Provide coverage for other Operations Team Leaders as needed
  • Participate in continued Operations Team Leader training and leadership development activities
  • Model the Company and Plant's Behaviors and Values

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma
  • 1-3 of relevant experience in a manufacturing/production or strongly relevant environment
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal, listening and communication skills
  • Sound analytical and business judgment including demonstrated problem-solving and trouble shooting skills
  • Ability to plan, lead, and execute strategic initiatives in a complex environment
  • Mature approach to challenging situations and environments
  • Ability to adjust to multiple demands, shifting work priorities, ambiguity, adversity and change
  • Ability to be agile through the ambiguity of a production environment while planning, leading and executing strategic initiatives in a complex environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree - any major, preferred
  • Demonstrated understanding of technology and providing solutions to technical challenges
  • Strong conceptual skills and ability to implement change

  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements will not be considered.

Salary Range

The salary range for this position is $70100.00 - $105200.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
