Manufacturing Environmental Specialist - NSK Americas The Company NSK is a global manufacturer of ball and roller bearings, linear motion technology, automotive components and steering systems with both domestic and overseas manufacturing. The Manufacturing Environmental Specialist Role This position provides NSK Americas with a technical resource within the Environmental, Health and Safety Department, with primary activities in leading Environmental Management for NSK Americas. NSK Americas has locations in Brazil, Canada, Mexico, and the United States. The position will manage the corporate environmental programs and work with all locations to align with NSK Americas expectations and direction. This position will be involved with helping maintain a corporate ISO 14001/45001 certification, NSK product compliance and chemical management, overall document control management for an EHS system, manage a cross functional team focused on achieving carbon neutrality, help develop and provide relevant training topics, and drive environmental performance for manufacturing, warehouse, and office locations. This position will be an environmental technical resource for the business. Responsibilities
- This position acts as the Environmental Management Representative for the Americas HQ facility.
- Leads the Environmental Management system for NSK Americas HQ, acting as a liaison with regulatory agencies and submitting timely reports and documentations to maintain compliance.
- Performs data management, including site and corporate wide environmental information, examples include emission data, energy usage, waste amounts.
- Acts as the corporate liaison with customers and suppliers concerning NSK Americas environmental performance. Includes working with Better Plants, Manufacture 2030, TIER II reports, Air permits, SPCC plans, Storm Water plans, TRI reporting, etc.
- Develop and implement environmental strategies and action plans that ensure corporate environmental management.
- Oversee site environmental activities through working with location EMR's and reviewing site activities on a periodic basis. This will also require site visits to perform audits and inspections as appropriate.
- Act as a lead auditor for ISO 14001, perform internal audits for NSK Americas at certified locations. Work with the NSK Americas Certification Manager to coordinate management of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems.
- Supports NSK Americas' compliance with all Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements, in addition to company and customer-driven environmental rules and requirements. This will be conducted through periodic document reviews, inspections, and consultation with Environmental compliance experts where appropriate.
- Working in the AHQ EHS department, assist in program management, document control, and SharePoint maintenance.
- Manage NSK Americas non-conformity and environmental incident reporting program by ensuring proper investigation and analysis documented into Metricsoft and perform follow-up on actions through virtual document reviews.
- Monitor and manage work performed by our consultants to manage IMDS, Substances of Concern, and Conflict Mineral Requests, and request periodic progress reports. Managing product compliance to various regulations, including but not limited to REACH, ROHS, and conflict minerals.
- Work with the region to drive sustainability and governance activity.
- Support Global Corporate Environmental Surveys as appropriate.
- Assist in overall contractor management which includes support through a third-party qualification system, First Verify, for NSK Americas.
- Evaluates chemicals used in the production process, lubricants, raw materials, bearing component materials with consideration toward product performance and their impact on the environment.
- Manages and tracks training levels and needs for the Americas Environmental Management Representatives (EMR).
Qualifications
- This job requires a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in a related field and 1 to 5 years of position-related experience.
