The CAS team is global, diverse, endlessly curious and strives to make scientific insights accessible to innovators worldwide. CAS is currently seeking a Solutions Architect for our Services Team. This position will be in our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio. Job Summary: The Solutions Architect is accountable for the design of custom solutions that align with the client's known requirements and budget, ensuring feasibility, value, and strategic fit. Acting as a consultative partner, the SA evaluates solution options and recommends the most effective approach. They also develop high-level cost and schedule estimates, oversee internal project execution, and ensure transparent communication with clients and CAS leadership. This position typically manages 5-10 concurrent opportunities in various stages of their lifecycle, requiring strong time management and prioritization skills. Job Accountabilities:
- Accountable for the creation and delivery of custom solutions for clients
- Lead client engagements to elucidate use cases, business challenges, and technical requirements.
- Build trust and rapport with clients through thoughtful, solution-oriented interactions.
- Conduct in-depth analysis of CAS data, competitive offerings, external data sources, and software packages for suitability in customized solutions.
- Facilitate cross-functional solutioning sessions across CAS divisions to design, develop, and create client-specific custom solutions leveraging CAS data, technology, and expertise.
- Design and lead workshops using human-centered design techniques to address complex client problems, as appropriate.
- Communicate complex scientific and technical concepts to diverse audiences, including developers, executives, legal, and marketing
- Develop initial cost and timeline estimates for client proposals and ensure project is kept within project cost estimates
- Coordinate project proposal, pricing approvals, and statements of work (SOWs) by establishing delivery milestones, resource needs, cost and timeline estimates, and a risk assessment with the Service Sales team.
- Provide program-level management for signed contracts through execution of custom solution to the client.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a science-related field or informatics; advanced degree strongly preferred.
- 5-7 years of demonstrated specialized experience solving technical or scientific problems in chemistry, biology, computational chemistry or related field, depending on education level.
- Minimum 2 years in customer-facing roles with strong customer relationship management experience, including strategic advisory capabilities.
- Working knowledge of scientific information tools, including the application of AI technologies.
- Experience in software development or data engineering is strongly preferred.
- Specialized experience in query languages (XQuery, GraphQL, SPARQL, SQL) is preferred
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders.
- Leadership abilities in coaching, mentoring, and team coordination.
- Proven ability to lead client meetings and influence stakeholders at all organizational levels.
- Project management skills with experience in priority setting and resource coordination
- Strategic thinking capabilities with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Responsibility for setting priorities and evaluating results for complex projects
- Proactive planning expertise with exceptional attention to detail and responsiveness
- Demonstrated independent decision-making in ambiguous, and strategic contexts.
- Familiarity with CAS data and policies is preferred.
- Ability to craft and present technical, scientific, and business solutions to management-level audiences.
- Strong ownership of customer outcomes and business results.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed. (10%)
- Advanced experience with Microsoft office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
