Description

Independently performing greenhouse and outdoor garden crop production, maintenance, quality control monitoring and related communications.

Will assist with and report outcomes to Manager HT Programs.

Assisting and/or HT Manager supervised educational gardening and therapeutic horticulture skills activities with HT Programs participant groups and vol This includes set-up, facilitation, and closure of activities. Will assist with any pre and post communications and required reporting to program leaders, volunteers and Manager HT Programs.

Assist with HT program and MRC special events year round, planning, facilitation and closure reporting as required. This includes adapting seasonal work schedule as well as during Camp Accomplish season to assist with Gardening education as scheduled.

Will be able to communicate through email be able to send and also receive and respond to communications from HT Program Will communicate with HT Program Manager regarding scheduling, planning logistics, follow-up to events/sessions with participant's within identified period of information request.

Will perform other duties as assigned based upon the needs of the program.



  • High school diploma or equivalent; and experience working with indoor plants and outdoor vegetable and flower gardens year round preferred.
  • Previous experience working with children and adults with special needs is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. But also comfortable working with alone (weekend and after hour work schedule)
  • Ability to be flexible with schedule during peak times of seasonal work


  • Comfortable working with volunteers, program groups and providing temporary organizational leadership when needed
  • Possess positive communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability and interest to be able to to work with distance supervision when needed
  • Able to complete and submit reports and forms electronically and also communicate regularly via text and email
  • Willingness to learn new horticulture and technology skills as needed to grow with the program
  • Interest in improving best practices in conducting programs and facilities management , that will improve Program impact, operations and effectiveness
  • Possess good organizational skills and provide attention to
  • Ability to work in diverse settings, which include: classrooms, greenhouses, commercial kitchens, offices, and also outdoors in all weather year round.

  • Evening, holiday, or weekend work required.




  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must have basic computer skills and have experience with basic Microsoft products.


*Occasional travel to various horticulture training events offered . Also shopping trips for emergency program supplies. Up to a 30 mile distance to include LaPlata or to vendors in Mechanicsville/Loveville, MD area.
