Why Become a Fellow with the USTA?

The USTA Player Development (USTA PD) Performance Analytics team is committed to leveraging world-class technology, platforms, analysts, and education to become the global leader in tennis performance analytics. Our mission is to support coaches and performance staff by collecting, visualizing, and interpreting data to deliver actionable insights that address key questions about player performance. This stipend-based fellowship provides an opportunity for college students, recent graduates, or graduate students to gain hands-on professional experience in Performance Analytics within a high-performance sports environment.

About the Fellowship

The USTA Fellowship in Performance Analytics is designed to train the next generation of leaders in performance analytics and related fields. The program takes an integrative approach, emphasizing the application of video analysis, technology, and data analytics to enhance athletic performance. Building on USTA PD's extensive expertise, this fellowship provides significant hands-on training and opportunities for independent research in performance analytics, experiences that are typically unavailable at the entry level. Fellows will be immersed in Player & Coach Development through weekly meetings with USTA staff and coaches, as well as through the exploration of current topics in American tennis.

    Fellowship Dates: January 12, 2026 - March 27, 2026 (11 weeks)
  • Location: USTA National Campus, Orlando, FL
  • Compensation: $10,000 stipend plus travel expenses
  • Housing: Not provided
  • Opportunity for independent research on current topics in analytics, player development, or coaching
  • Online seminars, workshops, and skill-building sessions in analytics
  • Development of a professional portfolio of project work
  • Hands-on application of analytics theory to real-world performance data
  • Professional engagement with USTA Performance Team staff (Analytics, Strength & Conditioning, Mental Skills, Medical)

Who You Are

  • Currently entering junior or senior year of college, a recent graduate, or a current/recent graduate student interested in analytics
  • Preferably a Florida resident or currently living near the USTA National Campus in Orlando
  • Flexible hybrid schedule may be considered for students currently enrolled in school
  • Former high school or collegiate varsity tennis player, or possess demonstrable knowledge and experience in tennis and/or performance analytics
  • Able to maintain a high level of professionalism throughout the fellowship
  • U.S. citizen or lawfully admitted permanent resident
  • Able to provide professional references upon request
  • Must be Safe Play approved for the duration of the fellowship, which includes:
    • Completing a criminal background screen
    • Acknowledging the USTA Safe Play Policy
    • Completing SafeSport training
