- Perform all preparations and processing of tissue specimens to be used by the Pathologist for microscopic evaluation and diagnosis.
- EDUCATION
- Bachelor degree or associates degree in science and Histotechologist certification or eligible
- EXPERIENCE
- Two years as a Histotechnician or Histotechnologist preferred.
- LICENSURE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION
- OTHER SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Works directly with the Pathologist . Interacts frequently with various members of the healthcare team, physicians, clerical support and outside agencies such as physician offices.
- WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Due to indirect or direct contact, you may be at risk for exposure to tuberculosis, bloodborne pathogens (which include HIV and Hepatitis B), and/or potentially infectious diseases. Exposure to potentially hazardous chemicals. Frequent exposure to soap and water via hand washing.
- PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Working and standing throughout shift. Ability to lift 50 lb. and carry 25 lb. Responsible for lifting, pushing, carrying, and pulling objects. Moderate level of manual and finger dexterity. High color discrimination.
