What You'll Do:
The Transportation Specialist is a dual role responsible for executing container movements across North America road and inland networks as well as supporting Triton's international logistic container movements.
This is a dual-facing role, combining internal collaboration and pricing support (inside sales) with external engagement of North American transport providers. The Transportation Specialist will work cross-functionally with International Customers, Operations, Logistics, Sales, and Leasing teams, while also serving as a key external liaison with trucking and depot providers across North America. A strong emphasis is placed on managing vendor and customer relationships. Key responsibilities include:
Supporting Logistics & Global Inventory Management:
- Develop relationships with existing customers, logistics users, vendors (incl. truckers), while providing quotations under the guidance of the department Manager.
- Act as point of contact for queries/questions relating to all one-way & trucking activity of our containers in/out/within North & South America.
- Work with the department Manager to help identify needs and opportunities to match our surplus and deficit requirements internally and/or domestically.
- Monitoring and following up (internally and externally) on the prompt pick-up of one-way and trucking releases issued.
- Provide Administrative Support and Coordination to Triton's global logistics and trucking operations functions, including coordination of invoice payments.
- Work with area sales management on development of specific action plans in problem locations, helping to mobilize additional Triton resources where appropriate, monitoring and reporting progress through resolution.
- Set up one-way leasing contracts in our system and coordinate the issuing of releases internally and externally.
- Handle and follow up and/or distribute accordingly all incoming calls and e-mails from customers, transport providers and depot partners.
- Communicate with customers, depots, vendors and internal Marketing, Sales, Operations and Technical Teams in a timely and effective manner, maintaining good relations with all.
- Remain current on all over-the-road transportation requirements, and facility access requirements including bridge laws, permitting required for special cargo's, TWIC (Terminal Worker Identification Card) requirements for marine terminal accessing and all other requirements for over the road and rail transport.
- Utilize Triton proprietary software tools along with external software tools (Drivers/ Load boards, Map and Routing software, etc.) to enhance service delivery, manage costs, effectively communicate internally and externally on transportation moves, and to build a base of reliable transportation service providers.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree
- Minimum 3 years of Operations experience required.
- Knowledge of Trucking, container leasing, shipping or transportation industries preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
- Strong attention to detail, self-motivated, high-energy level and positive attitude.
- Demonstrated ability to perform efficiently in a team environment.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks to completion under deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain good customer and vendor relations.
- Ability to travel extensively within the assigned area.
- Willingness to work outside regular office hours as reasonably required by the business.
- Must be at a commutable distance (within 50 miles) to the Houston office.
