Job Description

Elwyn seeks a Senior Director of Advancement will lead and execute strategies to secure major gifts in support of Elwyn's mission and strategic vision. This position reports to the Senior Vice President for Advancement and Executive Director of the Elwyn Health and Human Services Foundation.

The Senior Director of Advancement is a frontline fundraiser responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts from key stakeholders, and deepening relationships with individuals capable of making leadership-level gifts ($25,000+), as well as advancing Elwyn's strategic priorities through personal engagement and institutional representation.

Primary Responsibilities:

Portfolio Management and Donor Engagement

  • Identify and cultivate a dynamic portfolio of 120 rated prospects, engaging in strategic solicitation and stewardship efforts.
  • Conduct 10-15 face-to-face or virtual prospect visits per month to build and deepen relationships that lead to philanthropic support.
  • Maintain comprehensive and timely records of donor interactions using Elwyn's CRM platform, and leverage CRM to identify trends and inform strategy.
  • Ensure data quality and strategic use of donor analytics to drive results.
  • Ensure the highest level of responsiveness to donor needs, communications, and recognition.

Pipeline Development

  • Collaborate with the Director of Annual Fund and Gift Planning to leverage Annual Fund performance and data to identify, cultivate, and transition prospective major donors
  • Ensure that annual giving programs serve as a critical pipeline for Elwyn's broader fundraising priortities

Event Participation

  • Collaborate with Director of Special Events to support key major gift donor engagement and participate in cultivation and stewardship events as a frontline ambassador.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required. Minimum 7 years of relevant experience as successful major gift fundraiser for a mission-driven nonprofit, with a demonstrated track record of soliciting and closing major gifts. Knowledge of and experience with CRM and wealth research platforms. Knowledge of data analytics preferred.

Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a complex institutional environment. Willingness to participate in occasional evening and weekend events.
