Job Summary
The Pediatric Specialty Clinic PSR Supervisor is responsible for sustaining an environment of intrinsic goodwill for the practice while providing optimum services to patients. This position serves as an office supervisor and functions under the direction of the CAARE Center Admin Officer, supervising a small group of employees and providing accountability as delegated for the day-to-day operations of the designated clinic location(s). The PSR Supervisor position provides essential leadership and oversight within the Pediatric Ambulatory Services Department, ensuring efficient operations, exceptional patient service, and the ongoing development of a high-performing team. This position encompasses a broad range of responsibilities related to staff supervision, daily operations management, administrative support, and interdepartmental collaboration.
The PSR Supervisor plays a key role in fostering a positive and productive work environment, promoting effective communication, and contributing to the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care. - Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training
- Minimum of (1) year of supervisory or leadership experience in an outpatient clinical setting
- Minimum of (1) year of experience navigating health care insurance systems (Medi-Cal, Medicare, HMO, PPO, etc.) to obtain authorizations, schedule appointments, make referrals, and manage billing
- Experience using EPIC or similar electronic medical record systems
- Medical office management experience, including scheduling, template maintenance, and general computer skills
- Demonstrated proficiency with ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding for insurance and billing purposes
- Knowledge of medical office procedures, medical terminology, and healthcare regulations (including HIPAA)
- Knowledge of standard hiring protocols and employment laws
- Proficiency in navigating health care insurance systems and understanding billing processes
- Understanding of human motivation and employee development, with the ability to encourage initiative and growth
- Skill in training, supervising, and offering conflict resolution
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, staff, and providers
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities
- Problem-solving and decision-making abilities to address issues and implement solutions
- Computer proficiency, including experience with electronic medical records, scheduling systems, and Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to interview and select qualified candidates using effective screening techniques
- Ability to objectively and constructively evaluate employee performance, provide feedback, and set performance goals
- Ability to administer disciplinary action and implement corrective action plans, up to and including termination, in collaboration with HR and management
- Ability to identify areas for process improvement, develop and implement solutions, and measure outcomes
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years of customer service and/or call center experience
- Recent experience with EMR, specifically EPIC, including In Basket and Work Queues
- Training or equivalent recent experience in billing, authorizations, referrals, medical terminology, and insurance plans
- Recent experience in an outpatient medical office
- Experience working in a clinic front office, processing referrals and authorizations
- Previous experience working in a specialty clinic
- Direct experience working with pediatric patients and their families

The CAARE Center specializes in treating childhood trauma, offering evidence-based treatment within a multidisciplinary setting that values staff wellness. Mental health services are provided to children ages 0 to 21 through various service contracts and grants across settings, including outpatient clinics, pediatric clinics, juvenile halls, and community settings.
