Position Summary
Under the mentorship of Dr. William Polacheck in the Lampe Joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill & North Carolina State University, the Post-doctoral Research Associate will lead research on developing organ-on-chip platforms for evaluation of antibody drug conjugate pharmacokinetics and safety. Fundamental to this work, the fellow will be skilled at mammalian cell culture; microfluidic device fabrication and implementation; designing experimental protocols; identifying the necessary resources; acquiring, processing, and interpreting data; and establishing and maintaining research collaborations. The fellow will also mentor graduate and undergraduate students working on related projects. Such efforts are expected to yield results that the fellow will publish in refereed manuscripts, present at relevant research conferences, and incorporate into competitive funding proposals. A post-doctoral fellowship is a temporary training position that will prepare the fellow for success as an independent investigator in industry or academia.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Ph.D. in biomedical engineering, electrical engineering, or related discipline
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Demonstrated ability to execute scientific investigation at an advanced level; Expertise in mammalian cell culture, with at least five years of experience; Experience in computational modeling with MATLAB, python, or equivalent programming language; Knowledge of cell biology and physiology; Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Proficiency in advanced statistics; Familiarity with transport modeling; Experience with imaging and biochemical techniques such as PCR or Western blot; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Experience as a mentor
