Manager Stations Accounting Overview:

The Manager, Stations Accounting is a key leader within the Company's accounting team that is responsible for ensuring that the Company's station-related costs (fuel, ground handling, airport fees, etc.) are properly approved and accounted for, that the corresponding vendors are paid in accordance with contractual terms, and month-end accruals are recorded in a timely and accurate manner. These responsibilities also include leading a team of staff accountants to ensure that tasks and objectives are successfully accomplished and adhere to SOX compliant policies and controls.

  • Manage the review and approval of invoices for station-related expenses (fuel, ground handling, airport fees, etc.) within the Company's accounts payable management system, including the assignment of appropriate GL coding.
  • Ensure that amounts invoiced are consistent with services received by the Company, charges align with contractually agreed-upon rates and that vendors are paid in accordance with credit terms.
  • Coordinate with station vendors to resolve invoice and payment disputes in a timely manner.
  • Oversee the accurate and timely preparation of month-end station accounting accruals and ensure all necessary entries are recorded by the established deadline.
  • Lead, mentor and coach a team of staff accountants, which includes (but is not limited to) the assignment of tasks and monitoring progress towards deadlines, as well as directly coding and approving invoices, where necessary, to minimize backlogs.
  • Reconcile credit card statements for charter operations and ensure all charges are properly recorded within the general ledger.
  • Collaborate with FP&A counterparts to complete the month-end station expense analysis by investigating and explaining variances to budget/forecast.
  • Prepare month-end balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Prepare remittances for passenger facility charges (PFC's) and assist with the annual PFC audit.
  • Oversee the monthly statistical reporting to airports within the Company's operating network and ensure all figures are reported timely and accurately.
  • Oversee the use of the Skymetrix fuel accounting system by ensuring standard operating procedures are adhered to, coordinate with the software vendor to resolve system issues in a timely manner and work collaboratively with the Fuel Supply Manager to ensure contracted rates are properly maintained within the system.
  • Assist with financial statement and internal control audits.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance processes and drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Participate in and/or lead process automation efforts, including system implementations.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent years of relevant education/experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in accounting
  • 1+ year(s) of management/supervisor experience with increasing leadership responsibilities (preferably within a corporate accounting environment)
  • Prior experience in managing a high-volume accounts payable process, including familiarity with accounts payable management systems
  • Superior critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines while ensuring that direct reports complete assigned tasks in a satisfactory and timely manner
  • Highly detail-oriented
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)


Preferred Qualifications:



  • 3+ years of experience managing a corporate accounting team
  • Experience with accounting and ERP systems, preferably Microsoft Great Plains
  • Working knowledge of airline operations
  • Prior experience in investigating budget-to-actual variances and providing financial insights to accounting/finance leaders


Compensation:

$85,000-105,000. This is the base compensation hiring range for this role.

Supervisory Responsibility:

The Stations Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the Stations Accounting team, which consists of staff accountants. This role is also responsible for team and individual training, preparing annual performance reviews for the individual team members, as well as identifying and assisting with hiring needs (as necessary).

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets.
