Responsibilities

The Test Engineer will:

    Lead development and perform testing of new and existing test campaigns in support of a technology demonstration
    project
  • Train supporting group members on handling the hardware and instrumentation for the test campaign while maintaining a
    safety-oriented mindset
  • Lead procurement efforts of testing hardware and materials to conduct the test campaign
  • Coordinate with testing facilities and equipment owners to schedule testing needs and develop test procedures
  • Develop essential documentation for the test campaigns, including: test plans, hazard analyses, test procedures, Test
    Readiness Review documentation, and any additional operations-related products
  • Collaborate needs from PIs (Principal Investigators) to ensure stakeholder expectations are met and test plans/
    procedures are up-to-date
  • Perform analysis on test campaign results and collaborate with stakeholders
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and project team members to resolve any test anomalies, issues or unexpected system
    behaviors
  • Collaborate with stakeholders and project team members on any design changes, test campaign changes resulting from
    test results
  • Present findings of test campaigns in various forums (Project Working Groups, Program Meetings, etc.) to inform
    community members
  • Publish findings in a relevant format and medium
  • Train supporting group members and interns on test planning and execution best practices


Qualifications

This position is posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, position requirements and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

Required Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 5-10 years of related
    experience
  • Bachelor's degree in STEM
  • Environmental test experience on human spaceflight systems
  • Intermediate to advanced understanding of test and evaluation engineering
  • Performed intermediate systems engineering tasking
  • Up to 10 years of experience (including applicable internships and/or research projects)
    CAD (CREO, Solidworks, AutoCAD)
  • General knowledge across multiple disciplines of science and engineering

Preferred Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Experience with Model Based Engineering
  • Experience working with particle environments and wearing PPE
  • Intermediate experience using Labview
  • Intermediate experience using Microscopy
  • Experience performing image analysis
  • Experience testing in Vacuum chambers
  • Understanding of circuits and circut design

Essential Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and successfully complete a U.S. government background investigation

  • Work may involve sitting for extended periods
  • May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs
  • Must have sufficient mobility to enter areas of test facilities where necessary
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task
  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, etc.)
  • Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical
  • Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements when required
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere
  • Must put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others
  • This position may require some commuting and traveling to other installations as needed
