The Position:

Chameleon Integrated Services is currently looking for a part-time Network Design Consultant to support one of our local clients in St. Louis, MO.

This is a part-time role working on-site for approximately 10 hours per week.

Overview:

The Network Design Consultant will assist with the planning and implementation of a new Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). This critical facility will house multiple agencies, including Police and Fire Dispatch and an Emergency Operations Center (EOC). The consultant will be responsible for designing a robust, resilient, and secure IT infrastructure, with a specific focus on utilizing Passive Optical Network (PON) technology.

Responsibilities:
  • Network Design & Architecture: Develop a comprehensive network design for the new PSAP building, including network topology, hardware selection, and IP addressing schemes.
  • PON Integration: Design and document a detailed PON infrastructure for the building's internal network. This includes specifying Optical Line Terminals (OLTs), Optical Network Terminals (ONTs), and the fiber distribution plan.
  • Security: Incorporate best-practice security measures into the network design to protect sensitive public safety data and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Vendor Coordination: Act as the primary technical liaison between various technology vendors and public safety agencies to ensure seamless integration and interoperability.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, equipment lists, and configuration templates.
  • Consultation & Support: Provide expert guidance and support to the project team, addressing technical challenges and ensuring the network design meets the operational needs of all agencies.

Education & Experience
  • Proven experience in designing and implementing complex IT networks, particularly in a multi-agency or enterprise environment.
  • Deep understanding of PON technology, including standards like GPON and XGS-PON.
  • Strong knowledge of routing, switching, firewalls, and network security protocols.
  • Skilled in coordinating with multiple vendors and stakeholders to ensure technical alignment and system interoperability.
  • Capable of producing and maintaining detailed technical documentation, including network diagrams, equipment inventories, and configuration standards.
Certs Required:
  • Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Juniper Networks Certified Professional (JNCIP), or equivalent.
