Shive-Hattery has an immediate opening in our Valparaiso Indiana Office for a Design Professional with 2 to 5 years of professional architectural experience.

Under the direction of the Studio Leader this position performs a variety of duties associated with Architectural Design and related services to assist in achieving desired client satisfaction, and business results.

  • Assist in Multidisciplinary Projects: Collaborate with project teams to contribute to the successful execution of architectural plans, with a keen desire to learn and improve.
  • Support Senior Architects: Work closely with senior architects, helping to develop design solutions and gaining valuable insights from their expertise.
  • Engage in Design Discussions: Participate actively in design meetings, sharing ideas and learning from the creative process of more experienced colleagues.
  • Construction Documentation: Assist in producing accurate construction documents, ensuring compliance with architectural specifications and building codes, while seeking guidance and feedback to enhance skills.
  • Technical Proficiency: Develop and refine technical skills using software such as Autodesk Revit, SpecLink, and Microsoft Office, with a focus on continuous learning and improvement.
  • Client Interaction: Support client meetings and presentations, learning how to effectively communicate design concepts and project progress.
  • Mentorship and Growth: Seek mentorship opportunities, embrace feedback, and demonstrate a commitment to personal and professional growth within the architectural field.
  • Innovation and Creativity: Contribute innovative ideas and solutions, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity and learning.
Requirements
  • Design Professional with a NAAB accredited degree working toward licensure now or in the near future. Shive-Hattery will assist you in achieving your goal.
  • Completion of accredited professional degree program with a Bachelors degree or Masters degree in Architecture.
  • Software/Technology: Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, SpecLink, and Microsoft Office, with a desire to expand technical skills.
  • Knowledge of design of architectural systems, construction documentation and associated technology required
  • Experience with standard Construction Administration procedures
  • Demonstrate a high degree of aptitude in critical, creative thinking associated with design and the design process
  • Basic understanding of architectural specifications, international building codes, life safety code and current ADA requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an eagerness to collaborate and learn from others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of programming, planning, and building performance is beneficial
  • Motivated and creative professional able to design with inherent understanding of building systems; capable of designing projects in a variety of sectors, ranging from Healthcare, private developer clients, commercial workplace, and/or industrial clients with some Industrial, Commercial, and Healthcare Sector work
  • Self-motivated and able to problem-solve independently.
