This job posting is for employment with Corewell Health. Effective January 1, 2026, following the execution of a new agreement between Corewell Health and Quest Diagnostics, this position will transition employment to Quest Diagnostics. While this role will be integral to Corewell Health laboratoryoperations, employment will be withQuest Diagnostics effective January 1, 2026, contingent upon successful completion of Quest Diagnostics' pre-employment requirements.

Job Summary
Microscopically analyzes cells of the human body to preliminarily diagnose cancer and other pathological conditions on GYN and medical cytology specimens. Maintains necessary records and slide files. Works closely with the technical specialist and pathologist.
Essential Functions
  • Screens GYN and medical cytology specimens for cancer and other pathological findings.
  • Assists clinicians with fine needle aspiration biopsies. Makes smears and determines cellular adequacy.
  • Communicates as necessary with clients concerning clinical information.
  • Monitors staining quality on a daily basis and troubleshoots or informs supervisor of problems.
  • Assists with specimen processing, as needed.
  • Conducts cytology projects at the direction of appropriate lab leaders.
Qualifications
  • Required Bachelor's Degree an accredited cytology program
  • 2 years of relevant experience in lab or cytology related Preferred
  • CRT-Cytotechnologist - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology 90 Days required
