The Department of General Business at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a part-time (Hybrid) Secondary Schools Liaison: Kendrick Center for an Ethical Economy.

About the Opportunity

The Secondary School Liaison is an outreach coordinator to promote key initiatives directed at secondary school students, staff, and administration in the State of West Virginia. Particular emphasis is to be given to the promotion of:

Dual Credit Program: Expanding access to Kendrick coordinated and sponsored Economics college courses for high school students across West Virginia (ECON 201 through WVU Access).

Educators Program: Recruiting high school teachers and other secondary school staff and administration to attend special workshops in Economics, which are designed to lead application and participation in a Kendrick Center scholarship-funded graduate degree in economics.

This role combines in-person advocacy (school visits, conferences) and virtual engagement (Zoom/Teams) to build partnerships with educators, administrators, and students.

Location: West Virginia (Hybrid: Remote + In-Person Travel)
Reports To: Director of the Center for an Ethical Economy, West Virginia University

What You'll Do

  • Advocate for WVU's dual credit courses by meeting with high school leaders, counselors, teachers, and students statewide.
  • Represent the Kendrick Center at education conferences and public gatherings where promotion of these programs is a key element.
  • Develop/tailor promotional materials (e.g., brochures, slide decks) highlighting the program's benefits.
  • Conduct informational sessions (in-person and virtual) and guide schools through enrollment.
  • Follow up with ongoing guidance on paperwork processing, program questions, facilitator encouragement, and course multiplication at locations across the state.
  • Identify and engage high school teachers eligible for the Kendrick Center's MS Economics and workshop programs.
  • Clearly articulate the program's value.
  • Assist teachers with application steps and collaborate with The Director of the Kendrick Center on outreach.
  • Track progress and report on recruitment metrics.
  • Other promotional, networking, and training assignments as needed and assigned by the Director.

Work Hours: 27 Hours per Week

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, Economics, Philosophy or related field.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the following areas:
    • Outreach
    • Recruitment
    • Education
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong history of proven public speaking skills (comfortable with both in-person and virtual presentations).
  • Knowledge of West Virginia's K-12 and higher education landscape.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Firsthand experience in Kendrick Center programs.
  • Business and economics teaching experience
