Engineering Manager, Fire Suppression Development Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression and detection equipment, has an opportunity for a Engineering Manager, Fire Suppression Development position. Fike is a privately held business located in Blue Springs, MO with over 400 employees locally & over 1,200 employees worldwide. Job Summary: The Manager, Fire Suppression Development will lead engineering and development teams in the design, testing, and application of innovative fire suppression systems, with a focus on special hazards technologies such as water mist, inert gas, and chemical systems. This individual will drive product development in alignment with commercial strategies, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and ensure compliance with industry standards such as NFPA, UL, and FM. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership, project management skills, and a commitment to solving complex fire hazard challenges for diverse applications. Primary Responsibilities: 1. Oversees the design and development of special hazard fire suppression technologies, including water mist and inert gas based suppressants. 2. Leads and develops a team of engineers, designers, and technicians. 3. Manages multiple projects in alignment with technical and commercial strategy and priorities. 4. Manages cross-functional teams to effectively develop, test, and deploy new products and product applications. 5. Coordinates with other functional departments to support effective new product deployment. 6. Ensures compliance with all relevant codes, standards (NFPA, UL, FM), regulations, and established Fike engineering and business processes and practices. 7. Actively participates in the development and revision of applicable fire protection standards (NFPA, UL, FM, etc.). 8. Engages with customers to understand fire protection needs, provide tailored solutions, and serve as a technical consultant for product applications and problem resolution. 9. Drives improvements in development processes to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety. 10. Ensures compliance with Fike policies and procedures. 11. Maintains the confidentiality of all information processed. Performs related duties as assigned. Regular and consistent attendance is required. Essential Skills: Subject Matter Expertise. Analytical. Work Environment: Work will be performed in an office environment or an industrial setting. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, see, sit, and use hands. Some travel domestically and internationally as required. Job Qualifications: REQUIRED: Bachelor's degree in engineering, technical, or scientific discipline. Eight years post-degree experience with at least two years of supervisory and project management experience in a mechanical product development environment. PREFERRED: Advanced technical or management degree. Hands-on experience developing mechanical / electro-mechanical components and systems in a 3rd party approval environment. Experience with fire protection or flow control equipment and/or applicable US and international codes and standards.
