A Research Scientist I supports a leading biomedical research organization dedicated to advancing trauma, burn, and critical care solutions. The scientist plays a key role in planning, conducting, and analyzing laboratory and preclinical studies that contribute to improving medical outcomes and advancing scientific knowledge. This is a mission-essential position requiring on-site work in a collaborative laboratory environment and is contingent upon contract award.

Estimated Starting Salary Range for Research Scientist III: Commensurate with Experience

Pay commensurate with experience.

Research Scientist III Responsibilities Include:

  • Design, plan, and conduct laboratory and translational research studies in trauma, hemorrhage, organ support, wound care, and pain management.
  • Perform molecular, biochemical, microbiological, cellular, and imaging assays, including PCR, ELISA, western blot, flow cytometry, microscopy, and histology.
  • Conduct preclinical research using approved small and large animal models, ensuring compliance with IACUC and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) standards.
  • Maintain safety documentation, chemical/biological inventories, equipment calibration, and quality assurance records.
  • Prepare proposals, manuscripts, technical reports, SOPs, and regulatory submissions.
  • Support multidisciplinary teams, contribute to protocol reviews, and present findings at laboratory meetings, seminars, and scientific conferences.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned

Research Scientist III Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested:

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, Physiology, Pharmacology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated laboratory research experience in trauma physiology, wound healing, resuscitation, biomedical engineering, or molecular/genomics methods.
  • Proficiency with laboratory assays and equipment (PCR, flow cytometry, ELISA, microscopy, etc.).
  • Experience with animal research models and compliance with GLP, IACUC, and biosafety regulations.
  • Strong scientific writing and technical reporting skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively under mission-driven timelines.
  • Experience in combat casualty care, military-relevant biomedical research, or translational medicine.
  • Familiarity with advanced biomedical devices, automation, or telemedicine technologies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (GraphPad, SAS, R, Python, or equivalent).
  • Prior DoD research or clinical laboratory experience.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal
