Job Description:

Reports to: Director Automotive Administration Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Provides oversight and leadership for the Approved Auto Repair (AAR) and Battery program. Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Club's Repair Programs and Battery programs to include analysis, development and successful deployment of all related programs in support of Club and department objectives. Provides leadership to the Field team to ensure that business consultative advice and recommendations are provided to the AAR repair facilities and Battery program in relationship to new products and services. Oversees and participates in the committee process for approval of new facility appointments and cancellations and ensures investigation and resolution of member auto service complaints. Provides direction, trains, develops, coordinates and coaches ERS Field Management staff in the recruiting, investigation and monitoring of approved facilities. Participates in the strategic planning for the long-term success of the Repair Program business line; collaborates with senior level management, executive management, and operational resources to ensure strategy, planning and delivery approach will achieve the desired end results. Promotes new products and services for AAA members and AAR facilities, including those associated with the AAA's Connected Car Strategy and Member Vehicle Relationship Management (MVRM). Serves as the automotive liaison with Club resources including Marketing and Insurance, as well as a resource with the AAA National Office staff for AAR program, Connected Car and MVRM, and repair initiatives. Responsible for expanding and maintaining the network of Battery Service Providers and develops the Battery Service program into a core service within ERS delivery providing unsurpassed customer service. Develops strategies, proposals and industry business relationships, and collaborates as necessary to create or leverage programs developed by Auto Club Group, AAA National and others to provide compelling value that strengthens AAA relevance with our members. Ensures that programs meet and/or exceed AAA National standards as defined in the AAA National program standards including Automotive Quality Standard (AQS) #8. Coordinates with other departments, including Marketing and Publishing, and utilizes creativity to achieve both member and media attention for the AAR and Battery programs and initiatives, usage, and value of AAR/Battery. Prepares and maintains department budgets in coordination with Finance Department staff and senior AS management. Supervisory Responsibilities: Has oversight responsibility of an AAR network of independent repair facilities in assigned geographic area of responsibility. Provides guidance and support for an AAR/Battery Field team. Will travel up to 30% of time. II. Required Qualifications (these are the minimum requirements to qualify) Education:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent
  • Must meet established organizational Motor Vehicle Record requirements including the possession of a good driving record and a valid State driver's license.
Experience:
  • 5 to 8 years management experience in the automotive repair industry
  • Creating strategies for company programs and objectives
  • Managing work teams including project development and management
  • Recommending, developing and or deploying new products and services
  • Developing and Analyzing reports and financial statements
  • Evaluating operational needs and business practices
  • Managing vendor/supplier relationships
  • Resolving customer service issues
  • Microsoft applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Knowledge and Skills:

  • Customer service/customer relations
  • Work organization and time management
III. Preferred Qualifications
  • ASE certifications in Engine (A8) and Auto Electrical/Electronic Systems (A6) strongly preferred.
  • College level coursework or degree
Knowledge of:
  • AAA Dispatch systems (i.e. D3 and Salesforce)
  • Policies and procedures regarding the AAR and Battery programs
  • Automotive initiatives including MVRM and Connected Car
  • Computerized repair information systems (e.g. Mitchell On-Demand)
  • Repair industry procedures, practices, rates and facility insurance requirements
  • State and Federal repair certification requirements
IV. Work Environment Willingness to travel within and outside of club territory which may involve overnight stay. Frequently in and out of auto in all weather conditions.
