Position Summary The Shift Monitor works under the direction of the Senior Manager of Hope Center. Duties include monitoring the safety and wellbeing of residents, preparation of meals, janitorial, and basic property maintenance. Shift Monitors are the first point of contact when key staff are not present and must be competent in properly handling resident and facility emergencies. Essential Functions
- Understands the mission, organizational structure, and policy and procedures of The Salvation Army. Works cohesively with Directors, Corps Officers and DHQ.
- Properly answers phone. Directing the public and residents' questions to appropriate staff.
- Provides general (non-case management) assistance to residents. Confirms that residents are following House Rules and fulfilling program obligations such as chores, etc.
- Assists in the administering of resident's alcohol/drug testing. Immediately notify key staff of the outcome of the test.
- Issues and properly logs resident medication in accordance with policy and procedure.
- Prepares meals for residents as directed by supervisor. Properly handles food and cleans kitchen equipment in accordance with health code.
- Performs janitorial duties to ensure cleanliness of the facility and grounds and performs light maintenance duties.
- Conducts regular rounds to ensure facility is secure inside and immediately outside vicinity. Resolves any basic property issues (e.g. change lightbulb) and documents more significant issues in shift reports. Contact supervisor if any issue demands immediate attention.
- Conducts room, dorm and locker checks if necessary.
- Review and generate accurate shift reports to ensure proper communication with all staff.
- Ensure all resident forms, rosters, referral guides, etc. are updated and available.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to emergency situations, including all emergency drills. Contacts supervisor and emergency responders when applicable.
- Maintain accurate time keeping records that are reflective of duties performed under different grant/contracts.
- Attends staff and program related meetings, conferences, and training as needed and required. Cooperate with the supervisor on any other special project as needed.
- These duties may be changed in part or in full at any time at the supervisor's discretion, or as required because of program changes or needs.
Pay Rate Pay: $16.50/hour Working Conditions Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Able to pass a complete and satisfactory background check.
- Ability to drive and maintain a valid Class C California Driver's License
- Current CPR Certificate
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Demonstrates aptitude in assigned tasks.
- Able to pass a TSA Driving Test and maintain a clean MVR.
- Willing and able to maintain confidential information in accordance with Salvation Army and industry standards.
- Moderate knowledge in Microsoft Office with Excel and Word.
- Take direction and instruction positively.
- Ability to email, fax, operate copy/print/scan machine.
