Manager, Centralized Transport

Job Summary:

The position is responsible for planning, organizing and managing patient and equipment transport activities provided to clinical departments within the organization. In collaboration with the Director, the Centralized Transport Manager is responsible for leadership and direction in accordance with organizational and departmental philosophy and goals. This position will assist the Director in maintaining the highest degree of operational performance of the service. This position is accountable for daily operational activities on a 24-hour basis.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee transport and workflow processes that focus on overall improvement of patient flow and throughput. Evaluate and prioritize patient flow based on acuity and need.
  • Investigate and resolve concerns and complaints related to departmental services.
  • Contribute to management of an operating plan and budget. Ensure that expenditures remain within budget.
  • Develop, facilitate and oversee the Centralized Transport orientation program.
  • Monitor Associate compliance to performance expectations. Conduct performance appraisals for Associates.
  • Communicate management and daily operational activities with Director.
  • Coordinate staffing and scheduling of the Centralized Transporters.
  • Maintain liaison with professional medical staff and other personnel in administrating policies and procedures regarding patient flow and utilization of space, time, supplies and equipment.
  • Collect and analyze data for the preparation of composite reports relating to department performance, staff performance and financial performance. Independently execute appropriate action plans based on findings.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Minimum of one (1) year Management or Supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of hospital policies and procedures, related to JCAHO regulations
  • Familiar with routines and practices of a Transport department
  • Ability to prepare complex reports, interpret data, and manage projects
  • Ability to obtain and utilize information from electronic medical records systems, preferably Epic
  • Ability to understand budget reports and related detail

Preferred:

  • Masters of Science in Nursing
