Are you our next full-time Data Scientist? As a Data Scientist at ddms, you will play a key role in developing and deploying advanced analytics, AI and machine learning models to support environmental remediation, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including environmental chemists, data professionals, GIS specialists, and software engineers-to extract insights from complex datasets and help clients make data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and validate predictive models using environmental, geospatial, and sensor data
  • Apply machine learning techniques to support site prioritization, risk assessment, and remediation planning
  • Develop data pipelines and automate workflows for data ingestion, transformation, and visualization
  • Collaborate with project teams to define analytical goals and translate them into technical solutions
  • Communicate findings through dashboards, reports, and presentations tailored to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of ddms' data science capabilities and best practices



Requirements include:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in data science, preferably in environmental or geospatial domains
  • Proficiency in Python or R, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
  • Experience with machine learning libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow)
  • Familiarity with environmental data systems such as EQuIS or similar platforms


Desirable skills (not required):

  • Experience with AI frameworks (e.g., generative AI, large language models, or applied AI for predictive analytics)
  • Experience with GIS tools (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and spatial analysis
  • Knowledge of environmental regulations (e.g., CERCLA, RCRA)
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS)



Location: This position can be either hybrid in our St. Paul, MN office or remote in any of the following states: Alabama, California, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Florida, Georgia, , Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, or Wisconsin.

Compensation: The annual salary for this position ranges from $90,000 to $110,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
