The American Hospital Association (AHA) is a national organization that represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks, and their patients and communities. The AHA has two main offices, located in Washington, D.C. and Chicago. We are currently seeking a Managing Editor, Market Intelligence for our Chicago office. This position is a hybrid role (three days in the office, two days working remote).

Starting base salary = $102,000- $128,000- $154,000 (commensurate with related experience). The AHA is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. A candidate's salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and location.

The Managing Editor, Market Intelligence is responsible for the development, execution, and overall quality of the editorial vision for market intelligence content, which may include e-newsletters, e-books, reports, webinars, and live event content. Develop content related to market intelligence offerings. Write, edit, and proofread content, leveraging analytics to optimize performance. Manage all editorial aspects from content creation through print production, web posting and dissemination of content through electronic newsletters and other formats. Collaborate with freelancers, digital marketing and production teams as needed to execute projects on schedule and according to established budgets. Cultivate relationships with freelancers, business partners and internal and external subject matter experts (SMEs) as related to content development.

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Serve as editor for market intelligence content, including Market Scan, Leadership Scan, and Trailblazers. Manage all editorial aspects from content creation through print production, web posting and dissemination of content through electronic newsletters and other formats.
  • Collaborate with freelancers digital marketing and production teams to execute programs and projects on schedule and according to established budgets.
  • Write, edit, and proofread content pieces, performing interviews with subject matter experts when required. Apply best practices for search engine optimization (SEO) and capturing the audience's attention when writing and editing.
  • Revise and improve content created by others to ensure it aligns with editorial vision and appeals to the AHA member audience.
  • Analyze data as necessary to inform content, and to include insights from the data within the content.
  • Ensure content upholds AHA branding and tone and aligns with AHA advocacy positions.
  • Maintain relationships with health care executives and consultants who can serve as sources and speakers. Moderate webinars and in-person discussions with C-suite executives on key topics.
  • In collaboration with account managers, manage stakeholder expectations on timeline, process, and deliverables for content-related engagements.
  • Stay informed on major health care trends and issues. Provide insights to members based on what various health care changes may mean for their organizations.
