JMT's Lexington, KY office is seeking a Structural Intern for the summer of 2026 to work with our Transportation Structural team. The candidate will work on a variety of assignments, both independently and with a project team. The candidate will be supported by engineers on the design team while learning to complete tasks at the highest level. This position is not eligible for employer-based sponsorship with the exception of the TN visa classification. Interns at JMT will automatically be enrolled in our internship program. JMT's internship program provides opportunities for our interns to job shadow other areas of civil engineering, attend lunch-and-learn seminars, identify personal goals, understand the value of networking, learn about the business of civil engineering, and much more! Working Conditions Work is performed within a general office environment 90% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Inspections of transportation structures (bridges, retaining walls and culverts) may be required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required, as needed.
