Hourly Pay Range:

$22.14 - $33.21 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.

Position Summary:
The Surgical Simulation Lab Technician's primary responsibility is to support lab activities through preparation for, support during and cleanup after activities. Responsibilities also include maintaining the lab environment, care of equipment, and maintaining supplies and records.

What you will do:

  • Follows application/curriculum in preparation for lab activities
  • Assures all instruments, supplies and equipment are available and in working order and anticipate additional needs
  • Operates basic lab equipment and performs basic problem solving
  • At the completion of lab activities, processes instruments and returns equipment and unused supplies to appropriate storage locations
  • Inventories and orders supplies as needed
  • Monitors O2 and CO2 gas usage and orders and replaces tanks as needed
  • Maintains overall organization and cleanliness of the lab space
  • Follows chain of custody protocol when receiving/returning cadaveric specimens
  • Assists with pre-anesthesia preparations, intubation and IV start
  • Calculates and administers medications
  • Assists with monitoring the animal model throughout the procedure
  • Maintains basic knowledge of the GCSI animal Care Protocol
  • Maintains accurate records of animal care
  • Performs other duties as requested by the Surgical Simulation Manager

What you will need:

  • Education: High School Required or Bachelors Degree Preferred
  • Experience: Prior research or medical training preferred. Basic knowledge of medical terminology, experience handling animals and familiarity with surgical equipment and supplies
  • Skills: Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, and an outgoing, courteous manner in order to interact effectively and pleasantly with a wide variety of hospital and public individuals. Proficient computer skills, including the ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Apple computers.
