Senior Cytotechnologist

Job Summary: Reporting to the Histology Supervisor and Pathologists, in charge of the Cytology Lab oversees the daily functions within the Cytology laboratory. Responsible for the technical and administrative supervision of the department. Establishes a standard of diagnoses, continuing education, and quality control among Cytotechnologists, Cytoprep Techs, and pathologists.

Minimum Qualifications: X Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Biology preferred. X Experience: A minimum of Five years of experience in Cytology is required.

Licensure and/or Certification: ASCP certification required. X

Skills: Strong communication skills required to obtain clinical information.Advise on cytology diagnoses. Give patient results. Educate and train staff activities as a vital member of the patient care team and functions as an ambassador for the laboratory. Responds to phone inquiries and provides routine and stat test results to physicians and caregivers in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and hospital policy. Calls Critical values promptly. Completes all mandatory competencies, Healthstream courses, and maintains licensure, certifications, and accreditations, as applicable. Interacts professionally with patients, vendors, co-workers, and medical staff. Promotes Service Excellence.
