Position Summary |
The General Manager will provide strategic and operational leadership for a high-volume, multi-unit residential dining facility. The General Manager reports to the Associate Director of Residential Dining and is responsible for ensuring extraordinary customer service, fiscal accountability, staff development, and compliance with health, safety, and university standards. The General Manager drives excellence, collaboration, and ongoing improvement to ensure daily operations support the goals of Auxiliary Services and the University.
The General Manager promotes a culture centered on exceptional operational excellence, along with care for our
UGA Dining Services team members, creating strong, supportive ties so that together we are better equipped to care for our campus community.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive leadership experience in dining services management, including leadership roles in large-scale dining operations.
- Proven ability to lead and develop teams, including operational staff, in a complex, high-volume food service environment.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in budget oversight.
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance related to health codes, food safety standards, and workplace safety protocols.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Operational Leadership:
- Ensure consistent day-to-day execution of UGA Dining Services policies and procedures while maintaining service standards and operational protocols.
- Develop and maintain positive, professional relationships with employees, guests, support partners, and other departments within the UGA Dining Services and University community.
- Reinforce individual and team accountability for assigned tasks, monitor staff performance, coach employees to effect change behavior, and implement appropriate action plans with deliverables when needed.
- Monitor and respond to customer feedback, service metrics, and key performance indicators.
- Collaborate with leadership to establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for continuous improvement in production efficiency and service quality.
- Ensure dining facilities are clean, safe, and well-maintained with all equipment in good working order.

- Assist in defining and executing the mission and vision of UGA Dining Services by actively contributing to financial planning, performance measurement, and operational improvements within budgetary guidelines.
- Develop fiscal benchmarks, refine service-delivery strategies, and introduce innovative dining concepts to elevate the university's food service program to maintain profitability without compromising service quality.
- Review and analyze financial statements, track daily transactions, and execute strategic plans that include financial priorities to support the department's overall goals.
- Implement strategies to improve staff efficiency and flexibility, including cross-training staff to perform multiple roles within residential dining operations.
