The Powertrain Controls engineer will work within a Centre of Excellence (CoE) belonging to the Product Release Center (PRC) - Engine Propulsion Controls and will contribute in the development of engine propulsion systems for current and next-generation internal combustion engine & hybrid electrified propulsion systems for Stellantis vehicles. The ideal candidate, who must be a strong team player and willing to work in a fast-paced environment, will have an experience in developing controls strategies for start stop management, engine torque optimization & delivery for optimal driveability, performance & safety. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Read & comprehend the high-level requirements related to the intended vehicle-level behavior.
- Design the appropriate control algorithm that fulfills the functional objectives.
- Implement high quality control algorithm in Matlab-Simulink, C, etc.
- Provide best-guess calibration dataset
- Pre-verification of the implementation & check the requirement's compliance through Model In The Loop (MIL) testing
- Pre-verification of the generated code, through Software in the Loop (SIL) testing or specific tools able to monitor the consumption of ECU resources.
- Prototype software generation.
- Verification of official and prototype software in the HIL lab or in the vehicle, using system monitoring and verification tools such as ETAS INCA, Vector CANalyzer.
- Analysis and response to the tracked issues
- Participate in technical meetings, perform data analysis & issue resolution.
- Development of technical process documentation.
- Collaborate and support calibration community.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer engineering or automotive related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the following:
- Engine Controls development in Matlab/Simulink auto-coding environment
- Autosar based software development
- Embedded C/C++
- ECU & Vehicle Data Analysis Tool usage (INCA/CANalyzer)
- Demonstrated technical problem solving
- Strong overall knowledge of vehicle & powertrain functions.
- Experience with controls modeling, simulation, development, validation & calibration
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree with emphasis in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive engineering, or Computer Engineering
- Experience with Engine Torque management functions for conventional and hybrid powertrains.
- Demonstrated experience in decomposing intended functions into controls design.
- Deep experience in creating MATLAB, SIMULINK, and AUTOSAR architecture tools.
- Critical character traits to ensure success: action-oriented mindset, ability to deal with ambiguity, customer focus, and strong problem-solving skills
