Job Summary:

Join our team as a UI/UX Designer to help productize and elevate our game development suite for partner studios. Focused on tooling and editor interfaces, you will transform functional development tools into world-class experiences that will make Unity jealous of your output. You'll design intuitive workflows, editors, and wizards that empower game creators, streamline content creation, and set new standards for usability and efficiency in game development environments.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Design and optimize user interfaces for game development tools, editors, and content creation workflows.

  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to translate functional requirements into intuitive, efficient, and delightful user experiences.

  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and flow charts for tool interfaces, game editors, and workflow wizards.

  • Advocate for user-centric design solutions that balance business goals and developer needs.

  • Conduct user research, usability testing, and stakeholder interviews to inform design decisions.

  • Iterate on UI/UX based on feedback from partner studios, internal teams, and end users.

  • Develop and maintain design systems and documentation for development tools.

  • Ensure accessibility, usability, and consistency across all tool interfaces.

  • Present design concepts and rationale to cross-functional teams and leadership.

  • Stay current with trends in developer tooling, game engines, and content creation platforms.

Our studio is located in Raleigh, North Carolina. We're offering a lump sum payment to assist with relocation for out of states candidates!

This role requires full-time on-site presence, with plans to move to a hybrid structure as the studio matures.

Qualifications

Training and/or Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in UI/UX design, with a focus on tooling, editors, or workflow products.

  • Experience designing interfaces for game development environments, creative tools, or similar platforms.

  • Prior gaming industry experience is preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Innovative yet user centric design abilities.

  • Strong portfolio showcasing design for development tools, editors, or workflow products.

  • Expertise in usability, accessibility, and interaction design principles.

  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (Figma, Adobe XD, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).

  • Experience with user research, personas, scenarios, and usability testing.

  • Ability to create wireframes, prototypes, and detailed design specifications.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.

  • Familiarity with game engines (Unity, Unreal) and implementation of UI assets is a plus.

  • Understanding of information architecture and design systems for complex tools.

  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work with multidisciplinary teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent professional experience.
