A Brief Overview Under the direct, on-premise supervision of a licensed physical therapist, provides physical therapy treatment procedures to an assigned inpatient caseload. Maintains an orderly environment in the physical therapy gym and treatment areas.
What you will do
- Clinical
- Reads and reviews the medical record to understand the patient's diagnosis, precautions, goals and treatment plans. Asks questions regarding unclear information.
- Provides direct interventions in individual or group sessions as planned, especially gait training, exercise and modalities. Can treat patients in any setting in the hospital, including the ambulatory network.
- Evaluates the patient's response to intervention and documents patient progress in the chart. Instructs patients and parents in home program, especially gait training and transfer.
- Informs the physical therapist of progress/problems with specific patients.
- Performs care coordination tasks associated with patient care, including communication with hospital and community providers, tracking of medical equipment, etc.
- Academic
- Maintains current skills and knowledge by identifying own learning needs, both formally and informally, to practice a lifestyle of life-long learning. Seeks opportunity for clinical growth and development within the department through mentorship.
- Pursues and achieves departmental competencies as assigned.
- Attends in-services within the department and hospital as appropriate.
- Administrative
- Maintains productivity and fiscal responsibility in the provision/utilization of services.
- Actively participates in department planning meetings, and/or appropriate department initiatives.
Education Qualifications
- Associate's Degree Physical Therapy Assistant Required
Experience Qualifications
- At least one (1) year pediatric experience Preferred
Licenses and Certifications
- Physical Therapy Assistant (Pennsylvania) - Pennsylvania State Licensing Board - upon hire - Required and
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) - issued through on organization that requires a hands-on instructor lead psychomotor skills verification (ex. American Heart Association or Red Cross). - within 3 months - Required
Skills and Abilities
- Interpersonal relationships skills that permit effective communication with parents, children of various ages, peers and supervisors.

$27.35 - $34.19 Hourly
