THE ROLE:

As an Analyst of Global Rights, you'll play a key role in protecting and maximizing the value of A+E Global Media's global content by ensuring our rights are clear, accurate, and actionable. On our team, you'll learn how to provide critical Global Rights solutions across the company, partnering with Programming, Digital Production, International Sales, Marketing and Scheduling to support the use of programming and promotional assets across linear, VOD, FAST and other emerging platforms. You'll also sharpen your ability to assess legal and business risk, ensure the timely and accurate approval of deliverables, and maintain strong data integrity within rights management systems.

MORE ABOUT WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Legal Review & Analysis:

  • Review and approve rights bible deliverables for both internal and external production partners. Perform detailed contract analysis on third-party license agreements (music, stills, stock footage, archival material).
  • Analyze programming and acquisition agreements, ensuring accurate interpretation of distribution rights across media, territory, and term. Interpret unique rights and restrictions for window flipping deals between A+E and our third-party streaming partners.
  • Conduct initial risk assessments for non-standard licenses and flag fair use elements for counsel review.

Rights & Contract Management:

  • Enter and maintain deal terms in the Rights Management database (FilmTrack or similar).
  • Create, update and trouble-shoot contract records, rights reports and system flows.
  • Transfer and validate large volumes of rights data across platforms, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Generate reports and dashboards to support legal, sales, programming, and distribution decisions.

Data Analysis & Reporting:

  • Use Excel, systems and other AI reporting tools to manage, analyze, and interpret complex datasets.
  • Slice and dice rights and licensing data to uncover patterns, spot discrepancies, and surface actionable insights.
  • Present findings to stakeholders in a clear, digestible format to drive business decisions.

Stakeholder Support & Guidance:

  • Counsel producers on curing deficient third-party licenses and resolve deficiencies.
  • Advise and coordinate with Programming, Scheduling, Finance, and Legal to ensure program deliverables are submitted, reviewed, and approved in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Communicate asset availability and rights status clearly and timely to internal stakeholders.
  • Train colleagues on Global Rights processes, systems, and best practices.

Projects & Process Improvements:

  • Lead rights and systems projects from inception to completion with minimal oversight.
  • Support ongoing departmental initiatives, including data integrity, early producer engagement, and outreach regarding licensing standards.
  • Adapt to evolving industry needs and support Global Rights initiatives as required.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of three years' experience analyzing third party licenses (music, stills, archival, stock footage) and various forms of programming and distribution agreements.
  • Legal knowledge of linear and multiplatform distribution rights.
  • Direct experience with rights management systems (e.g. FilmTrack, Rightsline, Clear) including creating and versioning contracts, researching rights and generating reports.
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, generative AI, rights/data automation) to streamline workflows, analyze contracts, or uncover insights.
  • There is a high level of decision-making in this position and a high level of productivity and accuracy expected, as is an ability and willingness to work within a team environment.
  • The position is client-facing and service-oriented, so excellent interpersonal and written communication skills are essential. Must also possess an ability to discuss technology issues with members of IT staff and clients is critical as well.
  • Analytical and detail-driven, with proven ability to troubleshoot complex rights issues and reconcile contract language and rights flow issues.
  • Familiar with the media/entertainment landscape-experience at a network, production company, broadcaster, studio, distributor, law firm, or comparable business is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional diligence, accuracy and attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple high priority assignments simultaneously.
  • Exhibits professionalism through accountability, attention to detail, and a solutions-oriented mindset, even under tight deadlines.
  • BA/BS Degree is preferred; commensurate experience will be considered.
Compensation Annual Pay Range: $69,699 - $80,154 Annual Incentive Target: 7.50%
