Overview

Element has an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to join our team. This position plays a key role in servicing our clients by ensuring flexibility and responsiveness to their needs, delivering projects efficiently, safely, and to the highest technical standards. The Project Manager will provide daily technical supervision of testing operations and clear technical guidance across a broad range of the laboratory's testing capabilities.

Compensation: $60-75K/year (Depending on Experience)



Responsibilities

    Conduct technical review of quotations for corrosion testing and ensure work scopes can be executed safely and to a high standard of quality.

  • Develop and implement testing work programs, including detailed scheduling and resource planning.

  • Review and interpret technical standards and requirements; write job-specific test procedures as needed.

  • Serve as the primary technical liaison with clients, ensuring clear communication on technical and project status matters.

  • Drive continuous improvement of laboratory processes at all levels.

  • Manage financial aspects of assigned projects, including cost forecasting, progress tracking, and invoicing.

  • Provide clear direction to Technicians via machining and test requests (MTRs), ensuring timely and accurate completion of client requirements.

  • Provide technical leadership to the project team, with support from senior colleagues and Technical Specialists.

  • Arrange and supervise client and third-party witnessing during testing.

  • Perform audits and reviews, including technical contract review, job readiness, and job closeout.

  • Prepare regular progress reports, maintain documentation, and archive project records.

  • Conduct internal audits and support updates to procedures and standards as needed.

  • Deliver technical training and support to staff in corrosion testing, including HS environments.

  • Participate in client and site visits as required.

  • Perform other duties as assigned that align with the role of Project Manager.



Skills / Qualifications

  • Holds a bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline (e.g., materials science, chemistry, or engineering).
  • 3+ years of exposure to machining and/or material testing, including mechanical, analytical, and environmental testing methods.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a methodical and solution-oriented approach.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
  • Adaptable and flexible, capable of working effectively across both administrative and laboratory settings.
  • Proven ability to train and mentor others to a high technical standard, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Familiarity with national and international testing standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficient in a wide range of software and digital tools, demonstrating a high level of IT literacy.
  • Possesses the technical expertise and experience required to quickly achieve procedure and report sign-off authority within the laboratory.
