Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Laboratory Facilities Specialist for the University Facilities & Capital Planning. Working under the direction of the Project Manager Supervisor, the Laboratory Facilities Specialist is responsible for supervising the maintenance and installation of departmental equipment and coordinating the general maintenance of the Food Science and Nutritional Science complex.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Supports department chairs across SEBS/NJAES New Brunswick, Cook Campus, as well as faculty, staff, and students in the mechanical and operational aspects of their research labs.
  • Maintains records of work performed and materials used for invoicing and inventory control.
  • Documents maintenance activities and ensures that work is carried out efficiently while addressing any labs safety concerns.
  • Ensures work aligns with the mission, vision, role, and goals of the organization.
  • Performs professional-level tasks requiring knowledge and application of relevant concepts, theories, and industry standards.
  • Operates the SEBS/NJAES 16-passenger bus, including two ADA-accessible seats, to transport faculty, staff, and students to and from off-site locations.

Mid Range Salary 84393.980

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelors degree and a minimum of two years' experience in institutional project work or maintenance field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.


Certifications/Licenses

  • A valid Class C Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with a passenger endorsement is required for this position in order to drive the 16 passenger bus.

  • 16 passenger bus with 2 ADA-accessible seats.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability to visibly inspect multiple SEBS/NJAES locations across the Cook campus.
  • Ability to transport furniture, equipment, and/or passengers as needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 Lbs. boxes.
