Scope of Position The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center - James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute (OSUCCC-James) is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients and their family members. The Associate Director of Surgical Services leads a team of professional health care providers cultivating collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The Associate Director of Surgical Services assumes responsibility for determining the vision and direction for the respective area/department(s) with a span of oversight of 100-150 FTEs, determining the strategic and operational plans to support the vision of the department(s) and The James, operationalizing the plans, and evaluating and or revising the plan as needed. Position Summary The Associate Director of Surgical Services is a role model for transformational leadership and is responsible for managing the operations, evaluating manager and employee performance, demonstrating customer satisfaction (internal and external), and strategic and operational planning and program development. The associate director serves as a leader and mentor both within the department and throughout The OSUCCC-James. The Associate Director of Surgical Services is key in operationalizing The James mission, vision and values and creates an environment that supports professional practice. The associate director is responsible for the overall planning, organizing, direction and evaluation of the departments services; managing, guiding, coaching, and evaluating the work performance of all staff in their designated areas; and provide for orientation, professional development, in-service training, and continuing education of all persons in the department. Ongoing collaboration with other patient care departments/areas that relate directly or indirectly to patient care operations, process improvement and patient quality is essential. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree required, Masters degree in health care related field preferred. At least 6 years of experience working in a health care setting including perioperative services and 3-5 years of supervisor/manager experience.
