Controller/Cost Accountant

Seneca Foods is one of North America's leading providers of packaged fruits and vegetables with facilities located throughout the United States. Seneca holds the largest share of the retail private label, food service, and export canned vegetable markets, distributing to over 90 countries. Products are also sold under the brands of Libby's, Aunt Nellie's, READ, Seneca Farms, Green Valley, Green Giant (Shelf-Stable), CherryMan, Paradise, Pennant, and Seneca labels, including Seneca snack chips. Seneca also provides vegetable products to other companies under various co-pack arrangements.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the Plant Operations and reporting spending and any related spending variances to Plant Manager and key division employees. Responsible for consolidating all plant costs into a basic cost per case.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, RESPONSIBILITIES, OR JOB DUTIES:

- Month and year end financial closing;

- Reporting and reviewing all costs and variances with Plant Manager and Division;

- Closing out costs on FG production and preparing true up costs;

- Preparing financial budgets and replan budgets;

- Daily/weekly review and reporting of plant productions;

- Approving spending and charging to GL accounts;

- Overseeing accounting staff (payroll, supply inventory, raw product costs);

- Off-season analysis, projections and related analyses;

- Reconciling supply and FG inventories and overseeing physical inventories;

- Maintaining assets and balancing values and accumulated depreciation with ledger.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Preparing various periodic reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Extensive knowledge of accounting principles. Good computer and math skills. Good understanding of Plant operations and procedures. Detail oriented. Ability to multi-task. Good communication and supervisory skills.

EDUCATION:

- High School diploma or GED;

- College degree and/or 2-5 years related experience and/or training.

EXPERIENCE:

Two-three years of experience in production accounting environment with educational background or 4-5 years direct experience in production accounting environment without educational background.

PAY RANGE:

Wage range based on skills, abilities and experience from $80,000 to $90,000 Annually
